This was intended for our Gazan brothers and sisters: Rizwan led Pakistan to a decisive victory

Mohammad Rizwan, the wicketkeeper batsman for Pakistan, dedicated his team’s World Cup record-breaking performance against Sri Lanka to “brothers and sisters in Gaza” on Wednesday.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-228635″ src=”” alt=” this was intended for our gazan brothers and sisters rizwan led pakistan to a deci” width=”845″ height=”957″ srcset=” 211w,×170.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 845px) 100vw, 845px” title=”This was intended for our Gazan brothers and sisters: Rizwan led Pakistan to a decisive victory 9″>

Rizwan (131), who had scored an unbroken century, and youthful Abdullah Shafique (113), who had blasted his first ODI century, had helped Pakistan defeat Sri Lanka on Tuesday in Hyderabad with a world-record chase 345.

Pakistan cruised home in 48.2 overs thanks to a match-winning 176-run partnership between Rizwan and Shafique for the third wicket. This was the highest successful run-chase in the history of the World Cup.

When Ireland successfully chased down 329 against England at the 2011 World Cup in India, they set the record for the biggest run chase in ODI World Cups.

“This was for our Gazan relatives, brothers and sisters. I’m glad I could help the team win. All of the team members deserve praise, but Abdullah Shafique and Hassan Ali stand out for making things simpler. I’m really appreciative of Hyderabadians’ wonderful hospitality and support throughout, Rizwan wrote on X.
