After Manchester United lost 1-2 against Fulham, Harry Maguire blasted the team, saying, “We were probably very naive.”

Manchester United’s four-game winning run in the Premier League came to an end against Fulham as the Red Devils lost 1-2, sending them back to the trenches.

Jim Ratcliffe, United’s new co-owner, completed the acquisition of a minority interest at the beginning of the week. He then boldly laid out a three-year plan to lead the club back to the top of English football and knock local rivals Manchester City and Liverpool “off their perch.”

However, Erik ten Hag’s team lost the match as a result of being largely outplayed in their home stadium by a team in the lower part of the rankings and giving up the game-winning goal in the seventh minute of stoppage time.

Harry Maguire, a defender for United who scored the game’s first equalizer to tie the score, voiced his displeasure with the team’s lack of control and clinicality after a lackluster performance on both ends, saying that the team’s ignorance in the closing minutes of the match cost them.

Overall, we didn’t accomplish enough in the opening sixty minutes or so of the game to balance the score. We didn’t have a fantastic start to the game,” said Maguire.

Though you have to perform the fundamentals well when you’re not playing at your best, the first half was very evenly balanced.

“Even though we were down by a goal, I felt our response was excellent, particularly in the last 30 minutes, and once we tied the score, I think only one side would win.

“I think that by putting too many bodies forward and winning the counterattack, we were ultimately naive.”

United is the only team in the top six with a non-positive goal difference after they just reached an all-time low. Their defensive line is in complete disarray, as seen by their net goal difference, which is still zero.

Nevertheless, they are not the only ones at fault. This season, United’s offense has been just as bad, with players like Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes particularly falling to new lows in their form. And with Rasmus Hojlund, their lone prolific goal scorer, out due to injury, United was also at a loss for solutions in front of goal.

Rasmus has been a major focus point for us, so his injury really hurt us. However, it is our responsibility to identify the problems and places for improvement, according to Maguire.

“Not only can he start the press really well and hold it up, but Marcus (Rashford) has been playing really well on the left as well. We can play into him.”

“That’s the tale of our season; like other teams, we’ve been hit by injuries, and we need to get a solution quickly.”

United’s quest for a Champions League berth is becoming harder as a result of their defeat, as they are currently eight points behind Aston Villa in fifth place.
