Dr. Urvashi Mittal, popularly known as The Flask-Lady, launched The Flask-Ladies initiative in Delhi, a pioneering movement aimed at promoting responsible plastic use and reducing waste, in the presence of ISKCON East of Kailash Chairperson Meera Goyal & Divine Practitioner Mrs. Manju Bajaj & many other prominent social figures. This groundbreaking initiative was supported by a few inspiring women who were pinned as Co-Flask Ladies by Dr. Urvashi Mittal, marking the beginning of a significant journey towards reclaiming plastic’s purpose and finding harmony with our planet.
The launch event was a grand affair, featuring an animated movie that eloquently explained the mission of The Flask-Ladies, followed by a captivating 3.5-minute original video having original lyrics written by Dr. Urvashi Mittal, freshly composed in a music studio, and freshly video-edited, showcasing the initial batch of passionate Flask-Ladies who were pinned the same day. The video highlighted the reasons behind the launch of The Flask-Ladies Club and urged people to join this eco-friendly movement by carrying their steel flasks.
Dr. Urvashi Mittal, the visionary behind this initiative, emphasized the urgent need for sustainable practices in her poignant speech. “Holi’s vibrant hues may have faded, but the canvas of reality remains, painted with the stark colors of plastic’s toll. Our planet’s palette is marred by 130 billion plastic bottles and 1 trillion plastic bags annually, suffocating the trees, wilting flowers, and choking the Earth. Yet, amidst this bleak backdrop, we find hope. At The Flask Ladies’ Club, we’re rewriting the narrative – not by banishing plastic, but by reclaiming its purpose. Let’s restore balance, using plastic where it serves us, and finding harmony with our planet.”
The entire initial batch of Co-Flask Ladies took an oath to carry their personalized steel flasks, setting an example for others to follow. The event witnessed the participation of several esteemed guests and dignitaries, who lauded the efforts of Dr. Urvashi Mittal and The Flask-Ladies team. The programme culminated with many more ladies from the esteemed gathering coming forward to join the initiative, enthusiastically taking the oath and being pinned as Co-FlaskLadies by Dr. Mittal.
Very interestingly, the dream of motivating young girls & men also to join also materialised the same day, with the mention of ‘Young Flask Ladies Club’ & also ‘The Flask Club’. While the ‘Young Flask Ladies Club’ will have women members till 35 years of age, ‘The Flask-Ladies Club’ will have members beyond 35 years of age & ‘The Flask-Club’ will include everyone passionate enough to save the environment, regardless of age or gender.
